*Prices and seat counts come from the plan data on Trainerize's pricing page. It lists Grow with "unlimited trainers".

Here's how Trainerize actually charges: by coaching client seats. Each coaching client gets full access to programs, workout and meal tracking, habits and messaging. Paid plans also include Basic client seats for people who only book appointments and buy products: 15 on Grow, Pro 5 and Pro 15, and unlimited from Pro 30 up. Basic clients can't use training programs, track workouts or meals, or message you, and they don't count against your coaching seats.

Do your clients pay for Trainerize? No. Trainerize says the app is free for clients. You decide what you charge them.

Trainerize free trial and free plan

  • Free trial: 30 days, unlimited clients, no credit card. One thing to know: Trainerize's FAQ says add-ons aren't included in the trial, so you can't fully test payments, the meal planner or video coaching before paying.
  • When the trial ends: your account drops to the Free plan automatically (1 coaching client). No cancellation needed, and you aren't charged.
  • Free plan: 1 coaching client, forever. It includes the iOS and Android app, workout programs and delivery, basic messaging, and habit and lifestyle coaching. Great for learning the software. Not great for running a business on one client.

What each paid plan includes

Grow ($10/month, 2 clients)

Adds the AI Workout Builder, custom client programs, client meal and macro tracking, a Trainerize.me profile, Zapier, and integrations with wearables and apps (Garmin, Withings, Fitbit, MyFitnessPal). You can buy the Business, Advanced Nutrition, Video Coaching and Stripe Payments add-ons. You can't buy the Custom Branded App on Grow.

Pro ($25–$250/month, 5–200 clients)

Adds custom exercise videos, custom welcome emails, consultation forms, advanced messaging, groups, leaderboard and threshold challenges, and live chat support. This is the only tier where the $169 Pro Custom Branded App is available as an add-on.

Studio Plus and Studio Max ($275–$380/month)

Every add-on is included: Advanced Nutrition, Business, Video Coaching, Stripe Payments and a Studio-level branded app. Studio also adds 1-to-1 and group video calls, custom recipes and meals, referral links and prospect booking, partner add-ons, personalized onboarding, phone and priority support, API access, and the MindBody and ABC Glofox integrations (these two are Studio-and-up only).

Enterprise (contact sales)

For 1,000+ clients or 5+ locations. Trainerize lists a separate app store listing, 8-week "valet" onboarding, a dedicated account manager, app usage analytics, HQ/franchise content control and SSO as Enterprise features, plus the Enterprise-level branded app.

Trainerize add-on prices (the costs people miss)

On Grow and Pro, the price on the plan card often isn't what you pay. These are the published add-ons:

The "hidden" fees, explained honestly

Trainerize publishes all of these, so nothing is hidden in a legal sense. They're just easy to miss when you compare headline prices. Watch these five:

  1. Taking payments costs extra. On Grow and Pro you need the $10/month Stripe Integrated Payments add-on before you can take payments inside Trainerize. Trainerize's wording on whether the $25 Business add-on covers this is inconsistent (see the tips below). Confirm before you buy.
  2. Stripe fees on every transaction. Stripe takes its processing fee before it pays you. Trainerize's help centre uses 3.15% + $0.30 as an example. Stripe's standard US card rate is 2.9% + 30¢. Every platform that uses Stripe pays this. On Trainerize you pay the add-on fee on top.
  3. Nutrition costs more past 15 clients. Advanced Nutrition jumps from $20 to $45/month once you move to Pro 30 or above.
  4. The $169 branded app is not your own store listing. Trainerize's FAQ describes the Pro Branded App as adding your logo and colours to the Trainerize app. The Studio branded app (from $275/month) is the one Trainerize describes as a fully white-labelled app listed under your brand name in the App Store and Google Play. Publishing on Apple also needs an Apple Developer account. Apple charges $99/year for it.
  5. No refunds for unused time. Trainerize doesn't refund unused portions of a subscription. Upgrades apply immediately (pro-rated). Downgrades apply at the end of the billing cycle. If you cancel, you drop to the Free plan. Clients above 1 are deactivated. Recurring products are cancelled. A Custom Branded App is deactivated.

What Trainerize really costs: 5 common setups

These figures use monthly billing. They include the add-ons most online coaches actually need: payments, plus a meal planner if you coach nutrition.

Your businessTrainerize plan + add-onsMonthly costOne-off costCost per client per month
5 clients, training onlyPro 5$25—$5.00
15 clients, training + payments + meal plannerPro 15 + Stripe ($10) + Adv. Nutrition ($20)$80—$5.33
30 clients, + logo-branded appPro 30 + Stripe ($10) + Adv. Nutrition ($45) + Pro Branded App$134$169$4.47
50 clients, same setupPro 50 + Stripe ($10) + Adv. Nutrition ($45) + Pro Branded App$190$169$3.80
100 clients, same setupPro 100 ($225) + $55 add-ons = $280, or Studio Plus ($275, all add-ons included)$275—$2.75

Useful insight: at around 100 clients, Studio Plus works out cheaper than Pro 100 with add-ons, and it includes the Studio branded app. If you're close to that size, price Studio before you stack add-ons.

Monthly billing in USD, before tax and payment processing fees. Trainerize list prices from 12 October 2026.

For comparison, Trainerize's own 2026 alternatives article prices a 30-client coach who takes every add-on (Pro 30 + Advanced Nutrition + Business + Stripe + Video Coaching) at $169/month.

Annual billing takes about 10% off the plan price. Check at checkout whether the discount applies to add-ons too.

Why you'll see different Trainerize prices online

Trainerize has changed its pricing more than once, so treat any single number with healthy skepticism. It announced a price update in July 2024, and its Pricing Updates 2026 FAQ says new prices apply to existing customers from 16 March 2026, at each account's renewal date. Several third-party comparison pages we reviewed in October 2026 still quote older or different figures for Trainerize (for example $19.80 or $22 for 5 clients). The current official price for Pro 5 is $25/month, or $23/month billed annually. Always check the date on any pricing article, including this one.

Pricing your own coaching on Trainerize

Many people typing "Trainerize pricing" into a search bar aren't just curious about the software. They're coaches trying to figure out what to charge their clients. Trainerize's own help article on the topic is honest about it: there's no true industry standard. It does suggest two broad models to work from:

  • Recurring subscription: a weekly or monthly fee for ongoing programming and check-ins.
  • Flat fee per phase: one price for a defined block, such as a 4- or 8-week program.

Whichever model you pick, build the software cost in. Using the setups above, Trainerize costs roughly $3–$5.50 per client per month once you add payments and nutrition. Then stack on your payment processing fee, around 3% of each payment, and you've got the minimum each client must cover before you earn a single dollar. Gyms and studios tend to handle this differently, bundling online coaching into memberships or PT packages as a value-add. For a fuller guide, see how much to charge for online personal training.

Is Trainerize worth the price?

Trainerize suits you if you:

  • want a free plan to start with (1 client) and a long 30-day trial
  • run in-person and online sessions and need bookings, classes, session packs and video calls
  • are a studio or gym that needs MindBody or ABC Glofox integrations or API access (Studio plans and up)
  • want native video coaching without a separate Zoom subscription ($10/month add-on)

It's a weaker fit if you:

  • are a solo online coach who needs payments, nutrition and a branded app, because that means stacking three add-ons
  • want your own app store listing without paying $275+/month
  • prefer predictable pricing over jumps between per-seat tiers
  • value a very simple interface. Trainerize's own alternatives article admits the interface "carries a learning curve", and its 2024 pricing update acknowledged app glitches and stability problems and committed to fixing them.

Where Kahunas fits (our product, so here's the honest version)

Kahunas charges per client instead of selling fixed seat tiers, and the rate drops as you grow. It bills whichever is cheaper: your clients at your rate, or the start of the next step down in price. That's why 13–24 clients cost the same $62.50 as 25.

ClientsPrice per client per monthExample monthly cost
3–24$5.005 clients: $25
25–49$2.5030 clients: $75
50–99$2.0050 clients: $100
100–199$1.50100 clients: $150
200–999$1.00200 clients: $200
1,000+$0.501,000 clients: $500

Billing yearly takes 20% off, and the minimum is 3 clients. Every plan includes the workout builder with 1,700+ exercise videos, nutrition plans with over 1.5 million foods and barcode scanning, check-ins and habits, messaging, wearables and AI insights. Automations, lead forms and Zapier unlock from 25 clients, and your own logo and colour on the client app from 200 (branded coaching app).

Payments run through your own Stripe or PayPal account. Kahunas takes 0% commission (Stripe and PayPal's standard processing fees still apply). There's a 14-day free trial and a 3-month money-back guarantee. Cancel any time.

Trainerize does some things Kahunas doesn't. It has a free plan and a longer 30-day trial. Its booking, class and video tools go further for in-person studios. Kahunas's client app installs from your link rather than the App Store or Google Play, so there's no store listing under your name, and your own branding needs 200 clients. See Kahunas pricing to price your own roster.

How to keep your Trainerize bill down

  • Use the 30-day trial to plan, not to test add-ons. Add-ons aren't in the trial, so price them before you commit.
  • Bill annually if you're sure you'll stay: that's about 10% off the plan.
  • Check whether you need Business at all. Trainerize's pricing FAQ says the $25 Business add-on includes payments, but the add-on card says it gives "access to" the Stripe and Video Coaching add-ons, and Trainerize's own cost example adds Stripe and Video Coaching on top of Business. Ask Trainerize support before paying for both.
  • Watch the 15→30 client jump. Pro 30 costs $79 versus $50 for Pro 15, and Advanced Nutrition rises from $20 to $45.
  • Use Basic client seats for people who only book or buy. They don't count against your coaching seats.
  • Price Studio Plus at 75+ clients. It includes every add-on.

FAQ

How much does Trainerize cost per month?

As of 12 October 2026: Free for 1 client, Grow is $10/month (2 clients), Pro runs from $25/month (5 clients) to $250/month (200 clients), Studio Plus is $275/month (500 clients) and Studio Max is $380/month (1,000 clients). Annual billing is about 10% cheaper.

Does Trainerize have a free trial?

Yes. Trainerize offers a 30-day free trial with unlimited clients and no credit card. Add-ons aren't included in the trial. When it ends, your account moves to the Free plan (1 client) automatically.

Does Trainerize have a free plan?

Yes. The free plan covers 1 coaching client with the mobile app, workout programs, basic messaging and habit coaching. It doesn't expire.

Did Trainerize raise its prices in 2026?

Yes. Trainerize's Pricing Updates 2026 FAQ says the changes show on invoices from 16 March 2026, based on each account's renewal date. It previously updated pricing in July 2024.

Does Trainerize charge transaction fees?

Trainerize doesn't list a commission of its own. On Grow and Pro you need the $10/month Stripe Integrated Payments add-on, and Stripe deducts its processing fee from each payment. Studio plans include payments.

How much is the Trainerize branded app?

The Pro Custom Branded App is a $169 one-time fee and only available on Pro plans. It adds your logo and colours to the Trainerize app. A fully white-labelled app with its own App Store and Google Play listing comes with Studio plans, which start at $275/month.

Do clients have to pay to use Trainerize?

No. Trainerize is free for your clients. You set your own prices for your coaching.

Does Trainerize offer refunds?

Trainerize says it doesn't refund unused portions of a subscription. Plans are month-to-month unless you choose annual billing.

Is there a cheaper alternative to Trainerize?

It depends on what you need. Everfit and Trainerize both have free tiers for very small rosters. For a coach with 25–50 clients who needs payments and nutrition, Kahunas ($62.50–$100/month, payments and nutrition included, no payment commission) or My PT Hub Premium (unlimited clients) usually cost less than Trainerize Pro with add-ons.

The bottom line

Trainerize's headline prices are low, but most online coaches pay for 2–3 add-ons. Add up the plan, payments, nutrition and branding before you compare, and check the date on any price you read. If you coach mostly online and want to pay per client with payments and nutrition included and no commission, start a 14-day free trial of Kahunas. The 3-month money-back guarantee means you can test it properly with real clients.
